for the b side, �naga� is being reshaped by croatian master of electronics petar dundov and rotterdam based fast riser, koen hoets. petar dundov comes up with an esoteric take on �naga�. whilst respecting the form of the original, dundov goes one notch deeper with his wide array dub elements and feral hat sounds. koen hoets delivers a more demure take on �naga�. whilst the rhythm section might not be suitable for all club situations, this is adventurous techno at its best. noteworthy fx and soul touching strings that float throughout.

for the past two years, nils frahm has been building a brand new studio in berlin to make his 7th studio album titled all melody, which will be released on january 26th, 2018 via erased tapes, before nils embarks on his first world tour since 2015.
since the day nils first encountered the impressive studio of a family friend, he had envisioned to create one of his own at such a large scale. fast forward to the present day and nils is now the proud host of saal 3, part of the historical 1950s east german funkhaus building beside the river spree. it is here where he has spent most of his time deconstructing and reconstructing the entire space from the cabling and electricity to the woodwork, before moving on to the finer elements, building a pipe organ and creating a mixing desk all from scratch with the help of his friends. this is somewhere music can be nurtured and not neglected, and where he can somewhat fulfil his pursuit of presenting music to the world as close to his imagination as possible.

master of minimal wave sonics alessandro parisi has spread his full-bodied synth wares around such esteemed labels as slow motion, charlois, giallo disco, lux rec and more besides, and now he slides up to vivod with an ep of noirish fantasies you ll be hard pushed to resist. -crossfire- is the more uptempo cut, but -ravens- paints a more vivid picture of retro-fetishistic club music in dangerous places. -praying sages- goes all out on the soundtrack vibe, but not before it s been remixed by mick wills, who casually threads a driving techno undercarriage into the track to create a strangely transcendental slab of cathedral-ready body music.

a little over six years ago, let s play house because, in earnest, with a 12-inch called indoor pool. fittingly, the track it revolved around was by runaway, the duo comprised of marcos cabral and jacques renault, and featured remixes by some tight friends of the imprint, beautiful swimmers, slow hands, and soft rocks. we thought it d be fun to celebrate our birthday for once, but not with something too obvious (e.g. a compilation) or too involved (e.g. a warehouse party blowout). what we came up with is this, a 10-inch that reflects a little of the past into the present. appropriately, it includes edits by two of the artists on that debut ep. runaway s is a dusted-off and remixed secret weapon from the act s early days while soft rock s is classic soft rocks, albeit from a more current vintage (it was recorded this year). both absolutely rock. a little twisted, a little tilted, a little tipsy, but, as always, tight and tidy. funny how, since 2009, everything has changed and nothing has changed at all for this label of ours.

crossing borders of different genres & cultural spheres, yor kultura delivers a superb ep on the magic movement. once again the three rotterdam based producers and djs danny, raymon and kris impress with their very own cozmik blend of tribal music, house and downbeat. on the lotus ep, yor kultura reveals a more melodic side of their musical realm. gritty synth lines, strong percussion work and rolling basses invoke the spirits of places not yet discovered. mysterious vocal samples sing the blues on this journey through various psychedelic worlds. the sultan of hamam swing mehmet aslan, crafts a sublime version of willow on b2, giving a turkish twist by adding extra guitars and percussion. 33 & 45rpm playback is tested and highly recommended.

knlb first appeared with the initialize 12inch on vibraphone in july of this year, and it s not taken them long to return with another slab of on-point, upfront house music loaded with flair and imagination. up again is a heavy, chugging and bumping jam that should inspire all manner of screwed up faces of appreciation on the floor, and then fog machine smell simmers things down to a more measured house groove. half life brings a few more dubby elements into the mix, and then the club mix of sin sends the record spinning off in a wonderfully dusty reverie of detuned pianos and late-hitting drums.

for house heads of a certain persuasion, dj duke is a name that resonates for all the right reasons. the u.s. veteran has been responsible for some of the 90�s most seminal moments, chiefly through tracks such as 12 minutes to do it (under his pleasure dome alias), party time and the prosumer-endorsed deep house classic, heard. he returns here courtesy of emerging imprint solo werks, who host his latest ep, green pastures. a momentous house-led workout, it compounds duke�s reputation as a producer of considerable panache while also acting as an auspicious start to life for the dublin based label. the title track is a grainy, old-school cut that bears all the hallmarks of a dusty analogue-jam and harks back to the days of vintage chicago with the sort of zest you�d expect from a man of duke�s credentials. the other original, skyscapes, is packed to the brim with industrial motifs and is characterised by the sort of effortlessly catchy baseline with which duke has made his name. mysterious and ethereal, it takes the listener on an uncompromising and throughly captivating house journey from the off. on the flip side, we have two stunning remixes, the first of which arrives from new jersey don, ruben candelario aka nicuri. a long-time favourite of nyc-based producers a la joey anderson, nicuri turns green pastures into a dreamy, acid-led space, adding layers of suspense and a glittering vocal intto the mix as he goes. last but not least are dublin-based producers slowburn, who serve up a stunning version of skyscapes. a carefully construed voyage into the deep, it caps off a fine ep with some aplomb.

a teacher by trade, dr mary sullivan bain recorded her musical works to be used as an educational and motivational tool in the miami-dade public school system she taught in. the single was recorded at miami sound recordings, south florida and released in small numbers as a self-published 12 pressing for educational purposes. copies of �do you know black history did not circulate much further than floridas public school libraries and the vaults of some local radio stations when it was released in 1985. produced with no label constraints, mary worked alongside her friend and vocalist herman attaway. she would give him the words and the melody and together they translated her ideas into song. if one wanted to categorise it theyd have to put a copy in a few different boxes � 808s, bass synths, deep chords, live percussion and effects dubbed into the mix. the production leans towards the electronic diy framework that informed the local sound on the south side. whilst the categories are blurred whats clear is that the musicians who made this thought outside of the box.

we have encountered ice dog during one sunny belgrade afternoon while he was chasing what he was calling fish (actually slavic seniors transformed into dolphins and dolphin is not a fish). he might or might not told us the fore-coming story: a man complains of being hungry. all the time. dogs it seems are never hungry. so the man decides to become a dog. to be a dog one must walk on all fours. the hero decides to wear shoes on his hands only to discover that there is no hand left to tie the laces on the fourth shoe. what does a shoe-shod dog tie laces with? its mouth. organ by organ the man becomes a dog. one lace at a time his record transformed us into a new type of misunderstood creatures. most of the tracks are surprisingly fast and playable yet broken while others are groovy however noisy. i am pretty sure you havent heard anything like it before. but what do i know i�m a fish.

played by ricardo villalobos - its time for the next release on long-running paris label bass culture and owner d julz has invited a crack team of talented individuals to deliver the magic to this latest instalment in the label s release schedule. this extra special remix package features contributions from the legendary dj skull, along with sebo k, henrik bergqvist and romanian mp. the bossman s own 2015 ep houdini is the subject of this exquisite bunch of reworks, giving the whole release a fresh lick of paint from a group of artists handpicked by d julz to get to work on his productions. the title track houdini is first in line, with the mighty dj skull on remix duty. the chi-town legend has been a favourite of d julz since the early nineties when he was releasing on labels such as djax-up-beats. the funk-imbued workout he creates from the original production is superb and a testament to someone who has been involved in music for three decades and still going strong. keeping dj skulls remix company on the a-side is sebo k with his take on serendipity. following on from his outstanding ep brock wild, sebo returns to bass culture with another taught dance floor cut, full of swing and groove, pushed along with a strong, insistent energy. on the flipside the deep sultry flavours continue to bubble up. two more dynamic artists bring their unique touch to bass culture and the first is the romanian wonderkid mp (mihai popescu), who has previously released on the sub-label bass culture limited. his reinterpretation of serendipity is deep, nuanced and quirky with a simmering atmosphere throughout.last but certainly not least is the swedish maestro henrik bergqvist. waiting 4 visa gets a kick in its step, with mysterious cosmic fx layered over a mesmerising bassline and a collection of bleeps and chirps that really bring the remix to life. and there it is, four superb new mixes of three great tracks... enjoy!

im going to try not to gush too much about the fact that me me me has raj pannus first ever record, but you have to understand that he�s dj royalty to someone from where i come from. from his residencies in newcastle in the early 90s, touring all over europe, playing with the likes of gilles peterson, jazzanova and james lavelle to his move into turntablism in the late 90s playing one on one with dj craze, a-trak and q-bert.

fuckthegovernment.ltd is a label and is artist duo ran by f.t.g (alfredo trastulli) and music box head honcho, marco riff, two italians with a deep love of analogue-inspired house music and chicago sound. the labels latest once more arrives at us from the label owners, who combine with aplomb on the quite expertly named (ive seen) love from tokyo. for the first time ever, fuckthegovernment.ltd call on a remixer to give the package an extra sheen. in a move thats befitting of the standing for which the label is held, the guys have only gone and nabbed chi-town legend boo williams for remix duties. a killer dj tool that takes the listener on a proverbial journey of sound, his effort not a million miles away from classic williams productions a la mortal trance is sure to win plaudits from discerning house jocks aplenty. the original is an intricate and deep number thats laced with clever cowbells, warm pads and a sporadic vocal that really brings the heat. with such adept producers on show, its perhaps no surprise that fuckthegovernments latest serves up a masterclass in beautiful house music.

joran van pol is back on minus with edge, a fantastic four track ep that is his first on the label since 2013. in the years since, the amsterdam based artist has set up his own fade label and has continued to evolve his cinematic techno sound. previously, van pol has also released on labels like rejected, sci+tec and ideal audio, and has the support of all the big techno players who often reach for his tunes in their sets. as a dj he is just as in demand, with headline slots everywhere from space ibiza to time warp all behind him. having recently set up a new studio, he is still coming on strong with fresh inspiration and ever more essential grooves. �illos opens things with seven spooky minutes of icy techno. rolling rubbery drums pump away below, and the details up top make for an evocative soundscape with distant industrial sounds, groaning bass and razor sharp hi hats all filling your mind with imagery. next comes title track �edge, another brilliant sonic landscape with tense chords repeating over ticking percussion. its a track that builds tension throughout, and keeps you looking over your shoulder into the eerie blackness. the perfectly high pressure �return is one that locks you in and never lets up, with warped synths snaking above traintrack like drums and hits. a dark, rumbling bassline and the sounds of pistons releasing air all add to the intensity of this brainmelting bit of futuristic techno. last but not least, �frostbite is then the most spacious and spooky offering of the lot. it has freaky alien sound designs scattered around the track with supple kicks driving the whole thing forwards. its an absorbing cut that hurries along and takes you for a thrilling ride. these are four more inventive techno tracks from one of the contemporary scenes brightest stars.

duat (pronounced do-aht) was the realm of the dead in ancient egyptian mythology. the deity osiris was believed to be the lord of the underworld since he personified rebirth and life after death, being the first mummy as depicted in the osiris myth.the underworld was also the residence of various other gods along with osiris. the duat was the region through which the sun god re traveled from west to east each night, and it was where he battled apep, who embodied the primordial chaos which the sun had to defeat in order to rise each morning and bring order back to the earth. it was also the place where peoples souls went after death for judgement, though that was not the full extent of the afterlife. burial chambers formed touching-points between the mundane world and the duat, and the akh, the effectiveness of the dead, could use tombs to travel back and forth from the duat. duat (or duatrecords) is a label by amin fallaha and r100.

uk producer laurence guy delivers his debut for mule musiq: three house not house grooves en-larged with a deep musicality. so far the boy from london got one album and six eps on such labels like church, rose or cin cin under his wings. all his three tunes for mule feature a piano that spreads deeply haunting melodies. combined with house rhythms and a warm oscillating atmosphere, he managed to arrange an ep that reminds equally on the musical art of producers like andres or portable. deep house beyond the clichés, charged with bewitching melodies and a heartiness that has the power to stay for good.

réminiscences is a selection of 8 standards of the band revisited in a more punchy and electro style compared to the original versions but preserving what made the specificity of the opera multi steel sound. indeed, on boosted rhythms and fully re-recorded vocals, those new versions use sounds and �historical� instruments cherished by the band since its beginnings: tr 808, tr 606, tb 303, elex, casio vl-1, recorders, medieval choirs and various samples. the texts have been preserved in their entirety. the tracks are taken from albums such as cathedral (un froid seul, du son des cloches...) a contresens (les sens, las), les douleurs de l�ennui, la légende dorée (fureur en asie) and even from the very first vinyl ep of the band (massabielle). the artworks of the disc and sleeve, as well as the video clip coming together, have been realized by alan cassiano, who based his graphic work on visual atmospheres inherited from the very first vinyl ep of the band, using images taken from the encyclopedia (xviiith century) and perspectives by jan vredeman de vries (xvith century). finally, reminiscences is not a simple compilation of tracks, but rather a kind of travel through the different ages of opéra multi steel�s music rearranging/revisiting classic songs and images through nowadays eyes and ears.

sue zukis inaugural recorded document the we are all very anxious tape is in our opinion one of the most innovative audio expeditions that has resonated with us. boldly defying and deconstructing conventional genre tropes we arent being bias by saying that either. this is a genuinely sincere perspective. the key to sue zukis music is her vocals where she misanthropically preaches the records themes of psychological alienation and despair, trapped within an augmented virtual reality. whilst trapped and unable to properly function inside this distorted simulation there are the bewildering sounds of a thousand voices and every conversation unhealthily looping inside yourre mind, through the echo chamber. manifesting into a bleak neurotic obsession and feelings of inadequacy, a desperate plea, blinded and fatigued by the unnerving glare of the computer screen, processing too much information and not knowing if the human interactions youre experiencing are genuine or artificial.

trisomie 21 is a post punk band formed in 1981 by phillipe lomprez (vocals, drums) and herv? lomprez (guitar, electronics), two brothers from abscon, in the north of france. they began composing songs at the age of 16 while studying at school. the brothers were influenced by kraftwerk, the residents, yello, p.i.l as well as the films of george a. romero. their music consists of lush soundscapes that do not easily fit into any one category. lyrics are sung in english because in the north of france the duo sought to contradict the trend at the time for everything to be sung in french. musically their mood is melancholic and one can hear traces of joy division, durutti column and the cure.
